My work has taken a sharp turn into the geometric abstract. Since my childhood, my passion has been figurative work and specifically familial scenes. On Election Day 2020, I delved into the world of color grids and fixated on each square of color and the relationship with its surrounding. For instance, when I’m mixing each individual color I am certain that the color is whatever I have set out to mix. However, when I begin to place the colors next to one another, the prior knowledge comes into question. There’s an engagement required by each of these painting, a presence and even a persistence to remain focused and vigilant. These works have evolved into a play on space and light.

Now, my figurative works, which have always been a study of these elements, carry this geometry in a more overt manner. I am bringing my two worlds of figurative and abstract paintings together, marrying the narrative with the geometric.
